Bill Sherer, We Tie It
Fly Fishing For Musky
Captain Bill Sherer is among the more innovative modern fly tiers in the country. He teaches fly tying, fly fishing and fly casting courses at colleges and sports shows throughout the country. He has published fly fishing and fly tying articles for Fishing & Hunting News, Fly Tyer, American Angler, Midwest Fly fishing, Fly Rod & Reel and many others. He has appeared on various radio and television shows, including CBS, Versus, and on Fly Fishing America`s Legends Series.
Bill owns and operates Bill Sherer`s We Tie It Fly Shop and Northern Adventures Guide Service in Boulder Junction, WI. During the winter months, he runs a Saltwater Fly Fishing Charter Service out of Titusville, FL, where he specializes in sight fishing for redfish, speckled trout and snook.
Bill specializes in musky fly fishing, but is very adept at catching just about any fish on flies. He holds line class world records for walleye, smallmouth bass, musky, speckled seatrout & gafftop sail cat on fly tackle. Bill has guided fly anglers exclusively, (no spinning or casting rods ever), for Muskies longer than any other guide in WI. For over 22 years Bill`s clients have landed between 150 and 200 Muskies every season. In 2012, a total of 205 muskies were landed by Bill & his clients. His musky flies are regarded as some of the most productive in use today: His “Figure-8” has landed more 50 plus inch Muskies than any other commercial pattern manufactured. He has produced the following instructional DVD`s: “The Fish of 10,000 Casts, Musky Fly Fishing”, “Musky, Pike & Bass Flies – Proven Patterns”, “Synthetic Flies”, and “Fish Catching Flies, Muskie & Pike Patterns”, and “Larger Profile Flies, Tandem Hooked Patterns”.
Please RSVP to Terry Wittorp no later than Tuesday before the meeting either by phone at (269) 424-5138 or by email at email@example.com. Earlier notice is appreciated.
Special Musky Fishing Workshop Opportunity. On Thursday April 18, 10am-3pm, Terry will be hosting a special mini workshop at his home in Dowagiac with Bill for those who want to have more in-depth guidance on musky fishing than Bill can provide in his talk. The workshop will include everything you need to know to get started in chasing this monster fish, including tackle rigging, flies and fly tying, and (assuming conditions cooperate) casting, and, of course, an excellent lunch prepared by Chef Terry. Attendance will be limited to the first ten people who sign up, and there will be a cost of $15 to cover expenses. Directions will be sent to those who sign up.
